***ALERT CPT Code Snag***
The use of the new Psychotherapy Codes became effective on January 1, 2013. However, many Social Workers have encountered problems in being paid under the new codes.
The reason for this is because many insurance companies were slow to update their systems with the new codes. If your payment was denied, please resubmit using the new codes. The companies have updated their systems with the new codes."
And I hear that most people are being paid for 037 (one hour) codes. And that there is no code for 90 minutes that doesn't involve a certifiable emergency.
I talked with Regence, our local BlueShield company, Wednesday. They still have not worked out the computer problems for the Uniform Medical Plan. Other Regence policies, such as the FEP, have successfully updated their computers.
